Patient safety and cleanliness at Spring Valley Dental Care

Patient and team-member safety is of the utmost importance to us. Every instrument, every surface and every sedation visit follows strict protocols—many of which we followed long before they were required—so you can focus on your care, not the room.

Sedation safety

Comfortable and monitored, from the first minute to the last

IV sedation is only as safe as the person administering it and the monitoring around it. At Spring Valley Dental Care, both are in-house.

  • Pre-visit review of your medical history and medications
  • Continuous pulse oximetry, blood pressure and heart-rate monitoring
  • Dosing adjusted moment to moment by Dr. Mady, who holds a New Jersey IV sedation permit
  • Emergency equipment and protocols in place; a trained team at your side

Common questions

Questions patients ask us

Don’t see your question? Call us—a real person at our Maywood front desk will answer.

How are instruments sterilized?
Every reusable instrument is cleaned, packaged and sterilized in a steam and temperature autoclave that meets OSHA and CDC standards, then stored sealed until it is opened in front of you. Items that can be single-use—suction tips, barriers, needles, certain implant components—are used once and discarded.
What happens between patients?
The treatment room is fully wiped down with Cavicide, a hospital-grade disinfectant that eliminates microorganisms; disposable barriers are replaced; and instruments for the next patient are brought in sealed. Common areas are sanitized continuously throughout the day.
Do you filter the air?
Yes. Air filters are placed throughout the office in each space—a practice we adopted before COVID-19 and continue today.
What protection do team members wear?
Gloves, masks and eye protection for every patient encounter, changed between patients, along with the appropriate gowns for surgical procedures. Patients are provided eye protection as well.
How is IV sedation kept safe?
Dr. Mady is licensed in New Jersey to administer IV sedation. Before your visit we review your medical history and medications; during the procedure your pulse, oxygen saturation and blood pressure are monitored continuously by a trained team, and emergency equipment and protocols are in place.
Do you screen for other health issues?
Yes. We take your blood pressure and perform an oral cancer screening as part of the exam—two quick checks that occasionally catch problems patients didn’t know they had.
Do you reuse implant parts?
No. Unlike some centers that re-sterilize healing collars and other components, we use new, single-use implant parts every time. Re-sterilized parts develop micro-abrasions that harbor bacteria and compromise healing. Why that matters →
